The official builds will be released very soon but not yet available for most of the devices at this time.
But xda recognized developer Skin1980 has ported the Android Lollipop AOSP for LG G3.

commentsIt is NOT AOSP..its LG's Stock lollipop rom..please don't be misleading!
ReplyI am sorry for the inconvenience but I meant the same thing.
ReplyWhen I say AOSP for Samsung Galaxy meaning it's the RAW AOSP build with the TouchWiz UI.
Meaning it is not any other ROM like Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android or PAC ROM or anything else.
It's just a stock firmware.
now that i have flashily installed and after rooting my LG G3, i can open flashily and boot to "stock" recovery and do "factory reset" from there. why i can't do the same (boot to stock recovery) to do a update from external sdcard ? (considering after factory reset i may still want to root and install flashify first, so i can boot to stock recovery )
Replyis this TWRP BUMP mandatory or shall i just flash Lollipop 5 with stock recovery. (not custom recovery)
The STOCK RECOVERY does not allow you to install Custom ROMs.
ReplyBecause the STOCK recoveries are developed that way.
THIS TWRP RECOVERY IS MANDATORY TO flash this ROM or any other custom ROM on your phone.
funny i cannot add any comment ..... i' ll try one more time .
ReplyThere are couple of problem with this upgrade method, we lose 4g/LTE on LG G3 and eventually, i read your comment above, "this is just a stock firmware " . so why not using stock recovery ?
marc
Normally the STOCK FW comes via OTA (Over The Air).
ReplySometimes the OTAs come for devices(Lets say LG G3) of another regions (Lets say America) but it is compatible for all the devices over the world.(Europe, Asia etc)
That means each LG G3 user can use this ROM regardless of the region but officially it is not released for other regions.
This is the case for this ROM.
Because this FW is not released officially for your region and if you want to flash it you have to flash it manually as I have mentioned it here.
The stock recovery does not allow you to flash manually so you have to flash it via a custom recovery only.
i did some investigation with the author, skin1980, and found out he's not even able to explain what he did to the FW, (firmware) . however he did customised at least part of the bootloader to preserve rooting opportunities and for the laatest update with Lollipop from LG for G3, will come with a patched and locked bootloader that currently cannot be unlocked ( then no custom recovery either i suppose and not quite sure about rooting but i believe reading somewhere on the net , after upgrading LGG3 to lollipop then cannot be rooted ) .
Replyon XDA website and forum though, there other custom Lollipop FW such as ChupaChoop by skin1980 yet and even AndroidNow 3.5 is said to be with lollipop android 5.
NOTE: there is a mention in the Q&A of problems that may occur with LTE network mode setting however, not quite satisfactory in addition, i flashed the official SKIN1980 custom firmware again and this time with advanced wiping seeing to clear system too, nothing changed much, still looks like a KK 4.4.2 with few add on's such as notification center and few settings such as guest users etc. i doubt google or android would make such a fuss for a upgrade like that and even giving it a new name rather than KK 4.4.5.
will keep you posted on more findings
Then say it is Stock firmware. Saying it is AOSP in any way is already misleading.
