Very slim and very light but feature rich: Huawei Ascend P7

In this huge smartphone market people chose to buy brands like Samsung, Apple, Sony, LG, Nokia etc. in the higer end phones and simultaneously in the lower end segment Micromax, Xolo, Karbonn etc. are the dominated brands.
In India people have a psychology that the products from China manufactured companies is never be a good deal for them.
But companies like Lenovo, ZTE and Huawei are some of the good brands making their way since decades and we are using their products too but most of us are unaware of them.
For example the USB data cards that we use, the Dell XCD 35 is rebranded from ZTE Blade etc.
Here I am going to introduce such a kind of beautiful smartphone from Huawei, a Chinese electronics company and would like to discuss about some of it's features.

[The all new Huawei Ascend P7]

Before going into details let's have a look on some attractions of Ascend P7:
  • 5.0" Full HD Display
  • 1.8 GHz Quad-core
  • 13.0 MP primary camera with BSI F2.0
  • 2GB RAM
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat
  • 2,500 mAh battery
  • Good look and loads of features

At this time brands like Sony, Samsung and Google has already released devices running at 2.3 GHz of processor clock speed.
But Huawei has it's latest phone running at just 1.8 GHz clock speed. I mean where it stands in the race.

But here again another question arises "How does it matter???"

Yes of course it's less than the fastest running processor.
So what???

Here's the answer:
The only thing I can see is you will loose some score in the benchmarking and you will loose your argument if you are showing off in benchmarking in front of other devices mentioned above.
Honestly speaking I have a Moto G running @ 1.2 GHz quad core and a Nexus 4 running @ 1.5 GHz quad core processor and both running fine, I mean in terms of user experience when it comes to hardcore gaming or processor hungry applications.
So it will never put you down at other situation except the above.

Below is the link from gsmarena.com of the benchmarking chart of several devices including Ascend P7:

Oh, c'mon it's not far behind the others that you have to worry for this silly thing.
A little overclocking will make your device fly higher and leaving it as the leader in the benchmarking too.

Having said that lets move to see the much awaiting features of Huawei Ascend P7.

Look and feel:
The dimensions of Ascend P7 is 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5 mm (H x W x T) and it weighs about 124 grams; which is the best in class.
The back panel gives you a feel of Apple iPhone like look.
Water drop like curved design at the bottom of the phone for comfortable holding.

Camera details:
It has a 13 MP primary camera with BSI sensor and 5 piece ISP lens enables the camera performance for low light.
8 MP front facing camera with a panoramic selfie enables you to capture yourself with the nature behind you.

Here is a sample pic of the device showing off it's low light performance:

Performance and features inside:

This phone packs an SoC developed in-house by Huawei, the Hisilicon Kirin 910T Quad-core 1.8GHz.
As explained earlier, it's not as faster as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 running at 2.3 GHz but not far behind the same.

For the User interface, hey have their own unique Huawei Emotion UI 2.3.

Apart from all these this device has a great battery saving feature.
It has an ultra power saving mode: that shuts down the functions that drain your battery the most, leaving calling and texting and giving you up to 24 hours standby on just a 10% charge.

It uses thermal cooling gel as used in the PCs to keep your processor cool.
By using Thermal Gel Cooling instead of the conventional cooling systems used in other smartphones, the Ascend P7 keeps the system’s CPU cooler, which significantly cuts back on power loss, as well as keeping your smartphone cool in the hand, even when running power-hungry gaming apps.
